Surely you are thinking Them with Van Morrison playing in your head. Van did another version of 'Gloria' with John Lee Hooker on his "Too Long in Exile" album. What ran through my head was the Grateful Dead's live version of Bobby Blue Bland's 'Turn on Your Love-Light', where vocalist Pigpen shouts "I'm just BEGINNING to turn it up!" to stop the band from going into the coda too soon. Gloria Davis - silly name for a Russian model - is just beginning to turn it up in this more than credible debut.
